Valley of the Moon

Valley of the Moon is a unique area built by George Phar Legler in the 1920s for the purpose of appealing to the magical imagination of children and of bringing mental and spiritual relaxation for visitors to the site. Mineralized rock cliffs, caves, pools, and garden miniatures have blended with tropic and desert flora to create what Mr. Legler called the "Fantasy Touch of Three" (Lewis Carroll, Edgar Allen Poe, and Robert Louis Stevenson).

Wizards Tower

"Should Disneyland cover the entire State of California, not one corner would speak to childhood as does this imperfect, perfect little theater."

-- Tucson Daily Citizen, March, 1967.

UPCOMING EVENTS

What's Happening with Valley of the Moon ?

A lot is happening with Valley of the Moon...we are planning the move of the Magic Carpet statues to locations around the city, we are having an architectural firm assess Valley of the Moon from top to bottom, elections are next month for the Board of Directors, and we are planning to have big Fundraiser this year for our Halloween show, so we have a lot to do to get Valley of the Moon ready for the upcoming year ... AND WE NEED YOU TO HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Keep Tucson Unique -- Save the Tiki!!! - June 21st
Join us at The Hut on 4th Avenue this Saturday, June 21st for a 21 or older fundraiser to raise money to help move the Magic Carpet Tiki Head and save Valley of the Moon. Come hear Tucson's hottest bands, including Troy's Bucket, The Right Thing, Ghost Cow, and Big Galoot. The Hut is located at 305 N. 4th Avenue. The music starts at 9pm. $5 Cover Charge.

Silent Auction Postponed Until September
Magic Carpet's day's are numbered, but it is still not too late to preserve a piece of Tucson history for yourself. Most of the statues are up for auction: the Monkey, the Dinosaur, the Kachina, and many more. Serious Bidders only please. Winning bidder will pay for all moving and relocation expenses. The AUCTION originally scheduled for Saturday, June 28 has been postponed until September. A firm date has not been established as yet but we will correspond with you when a new date is confirmed. Our Magic Carpet Sculpture committee anticipates a lot more publicity in the future in regard to these wonderful Lee Koplin creations. There are some very possible public venues opening up for us and we need more time to explore this opportunity. We assure you that your interest in these statues will be respected and we will make you aware of any new happenings in regard to them. We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may have caused you.
Sincerely, MAGIC CARPET GOLF SCULPTURE COMMITTEE
